" With a population of 103,544, Oldham is a flourishing hive of musical activity, with bars and clubs everywhere. The local football club has people flocking in on match nights, and there are plenty of amazing festivals that you'll remember for the rest of your life. There are orchestral events, "Battle of the Bands" and much, much more. There are also plenty of great restaurants, ranging from Turkish tasties, to Mediterranean morsels, and everything in between. Even a hearty old English breakfast is available! The next item on the visiting list is the huge range of beautiful art exhibits. Still life, sculpture, textiles and more, all of which are very popular with visitors, and locals. The beautiful museums and the Roman fort are a must see. The Oldham Coliseum Theatre shows musicals, dramas, traditional theatre, and comedies. Wedding venues are in plentiful supply here, once you travel outwards. According to the ‘hitched.co.uk’ website, The Saddleworth Hotel has a five heart rating, and is only 4.3 miles from the centre of Oldham. The venue is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, civil partnerships, renewal of vows, and baby naming. The dining suite can serve 89 people, the evening parties in the Friarmere suite can go up to 250, and the ballroom can hold 400! This hotel also provides a Rolls-Royce for your arrival. They have beautiful gardens surrounding the area. The Place Hotel is 6 miles out of Oldham, but is a very different environment to The Saddleworth Hotel. The same website gives it a five heart rating. The ambience and decorations are all very alternative, and they have 3 licensed civil ceremony suites, a bar, a champagne lounge, seating for 250 people, and standing room for 400." |
